Devine Disinterest
A calico curtain circles her face, fur wisping like feathered brushstrokes. Olive and umber dance across her coat in smooth harmony. Ivory toes peek out from under her curled contour, hints of a hidden masterpiece beneath.
But the true subject is her gaze. Like seaglass treasures, her eyes glimmering green, beckoning to be held and admired. As she locks on with purpose, half-lidded, the depths reveal swirling hues teasing luminance and shadow in equal measure. No disinterested party, she has deemed both cameraman and viewer worthy witnesses to her daily divinity. Her chin rests lightly on her clasped paws, patient and poised upon the downy cream canvas stretched smoothly behind her.
Amber tones warm the scene, mimicking the cozy comfort she inhabits. She blinks slowly, languid yet alert. We offer ourselves up to study, helpless to resist the pull into pools swirling tranquility and fierceness at once. She lets us linger there, to breathe her blessing in before releasing us back to the world rushed and worried. A reminder - simply to exist is art enough for those keen to see it.
